Davinci Resolve is a professional-grade editor, and free, but not open source. Openshot is a pretty easy editor that works similarly. Olive is another promising option, but similarly tricky to master. It's modeled after Adobe Premiere (more or less), and has a bit of a learning curve. It is still in Beta, but looks very promising.
